One on One
I love taking the time to sit down one on one with my clients and listen to what they want out of physiotherapy. I want to help you reach your goals.
- Are struggling with a pelvic/women's health issue?
- Do you want to resolve a new injury, improve your fitness or change a longstanding condition you just haven't been able to sort out?
With a comprehensive assessment I will work with you to ensure you understand your body, answer your questions and create an individualized treatment plan that works for you to reach your goals.
Prenatal Classes
Congratulations on your pregnancy. This is an exciting and overwhelming time with lots of changes and lots of questions. One thing we know for sure is exercise is extremely valuable for both mom and baby during pregnancy.
- Do you want to set yourself up for the best pregnancy and labour you can have?
- Do you want to have the tools and reasources to help recover in those early days post delivery?
In my prenatal exercise classes we will also have educational topics to answer your questions about the changes in your body and how to prepare for birth and beyond.
Postnatal Classes
Baby is here and now what? Far too often once baby arrives, mom is forgotten! Postnatal exercise classes are a great way to connect with other moms and reconnect with your body.
- Does your body feel different? Do you want to understand and reconnect?
- Do you wonder what's normal, what isn't and what to do about it?
My classes are individually tailored to meet your needs and goals. I work with moms that have urinary incontinence, diastasis recti, pelvic pain as well as moms who are not experiancing any issues but just want to get or stay fit in a supportive enviroment.
“Are your services covered by my insurance?”
Yes! Most extended health plans cover physiotherapy assessment and treatments. Both my in clinic and class sessions qualify for physiotherapy coverage. You will be provided with an official receipt to submit to your insurer. Check with your insurance provider to see if you require a doctors note or not to be able to claim.
“Do I need to have an assessment? What does that entail? “
Yes! Every single person I work with needs to be assessed before I can work with them. Not only is this a college of physiotherapy requirement but also I need to assess you so I know how to help you. I do both in clinic assessments as well as virtual (online/telephone) assessments. First I listen to you (subjective assessment) then we look at what we need to (objective assessment). Note I do not do internal assessments and I will refer you to an internal therapist if I feel that is necessairy.
“Do you only treat pre/post natal women?“
No, I treat everyone! I have extensive background in general orthopeadics and am a highly qualified manual therapist. I have treated people’s jaws, people’s big toe’s and just about every joint and muscle inbetween. I have a passion for helping people. I started focussing more on women’s health after 15 years of practicing as a general ortho physio because I found there to often be a huge connection between the pelvic floor and the orthopeadic problems I was seeing. Both in women and men. Yes – men have pelvic floors too!
From Orthopeadics to Pelvic Floor – My Journey
When I first decided I wanted to be a physio I, like most young physios, had my sights set on working with athletes. In my first job as an orthopeadic physio the owner of the clinic asked me if I would be willing or interested in learning to be a pelvic floor...
